Probably one of the most controversial Halloween costumes of 2009 is the Illegal Alien costume. The costume features an orange jumpsuit with Illegal Alien stamped on the front, a typical alien mask and a green card. The costume is meant to be humorous but many people have ended up being offended by the costume.

Activists have been lobbying retailers and others to condemn this costume and pull it from the shelves because of the stereotypical message it portrays. They say that it paints illegal aliens in a negative light. Target caved into the pressure and attention and have pulled the costume from its website. Others are following suit and a few are still offering the Illegal Alien Costume for sale.

With all of the attention this is getting now on television it will be interesting to see how many people choose this costume. Even though it is getting harder to find because of all the pressure to have it removed from stores it is a simple costume to make on your own.
